PORTLAND, OR–In response to race-centric events like Black History Month, whites people sometimes ask what if there were  similarly white-centric events.  Portland Community College will be answering that question this April, with Whiteness History Month.

According to the school’s Cascade Campus Diversity Council, the interdisciplinary event, will examine “what it means to be white”, because whiteness does not “refer to skin color but an ideology based on beliefs, values, behaviors, habits and attitudes, which result in the unequal distribution of power and privilege”.   In other words, white skin is not necessary to be considered of Caucasion persuasion.

Be careful what you wish for, Whitey..sounds like you gonna get it.
